Han Ye-seul brings spark and spunk for spy role. Playing a female North Korean spy on a mission in South Korea may sound like heavy duty work but it becomes a different story when an actress like Han Ye-seul brings spark and spunk to the table.

On the set of upcoming romantic comedy series “Spy Myung-Wol” revealed to the press on a sweltering Monday, Han dashed along a non-air-conditioned corridor of broadcaster KBS’s drama center in the city of Suwon more than a handful of times which left the actress out of breath yet unfazed and in high spirits.

This was just one of the many times Han would be running full throttle on the show -- her character Myung-wol would chase and be chased while trying to fulfill her mission of seducing Hallyu star Kang-woo, played by singer-actor Eric, in three months to make him defect to North Korea.

Two weeks ago, she had to run at full speed on a beach in Singapore several times after which “she was lively as ever,” co-star Eric said, when he himself “almost went into a state of panic because it was so hot.”

"I'm very good at bearing with hot weather but awful with the cold so I guess I'm born to be filming in hot weather," Han explained with a laugh.

She once even hung from one wire, instead of the usual two, for the sake of the angle of an action scene they were filming but Eric said "she wasn't scared at all."

"I'm just trying to work hard at what I can do well at... How good my acting is will depend on how good of a job I do in trying to show what I'm good at," Han said.

Romantic comedies have been a forte for the bubbly Han, as proven through her roles in drama "Couple of Trouble" (MBC, 2006) and film "Miss Gold Digger" (2007) and she has taken on action sequences in the former project as well as series "Forbidden Love" (KBS, 2004).

"Spy Myung-Wol" will be helmed by Hwang In-hyuk whose works include "The Iron Empress" and "SungKyunKwan Scandal."

The show will also star actor Lee Jin-wook, playing a North Korean spy as well and actress Jang Hee-jin taking on the role of a top actress who is also the heiress to the owner of a five-star hotel.

The show was originally set to go on air on July 4 but has been pushed back by a week due to the extension of current series "Babyfaced Beauty."
