Petaling Jaya, 13th June 2011 – Gwengjanghe! (It’s incredible!) 8tv is all set to unleash the best of the best Korean dramas especially for you. Seeing that the Korean wave has always been a head turner in the Asian entertainment industry since the days of Winter Sonata, there are many reasons why viewers are still so enticed up till this day. Next on the 8TV menu - Marry me Mary!

This romantic comedy blends the trendsetting Korean fashion with a very exciting plot that shows off the dramas versatility. You can rest assure that this is not a mundane drama with constant tear-jerking points, instead this KBS drama has an incredibly written storyline portrayed by a star studded cast including Korean heartthrobs Jang Keun Seuk, Moon Geun Young, Kim Hyo Jn and Kim Jae Wook.

Beginning 18 June 2011 at 6.30pm, 8tv is going to make your Saturdays a great experience of Korean trend.

An adaption of a notorious Korean internet comic “Maerineun Uibakjoong” by Won Soo Yeon, Marry me Mary sees Moon Geun Young play Wi Mae Ri, a cheerful girl who grew up constantly running away from debtors with her father, Wi Dae Han. Things take a turn for her when one day she nearly rams over Kang Moo Kyul (Jang), a free-spirited indie singer cum chick-magnet. Their relationship slowly blossoms, but how far does it go?

However, one day Dae Han is saved from debtors by his old friend Jung Suk. But in return of the help given, Dae Han had agreed to hand over his daughter for marriage to Jung Suk’s son Jung In, who had returned from Japan with his father after achieving considerable success in the entertainment industry there. Reluctant to tie the knot with someone she does not love, Mae Ri begs Moo Kyul to be his “pseudo-husband”. Without giving in, her father gives her exactly 100 days to make her pick. Who will Mae Ri turn to in the end?

Group General Manager of 8TV and ntv7, Ms Airin Zainul said: “ Watch out K-pop fans we’ve got some of the greatest Korean drama’s lined up for you. This June till October, one of the most celebrated drama’s in Korea is making its way exclusively on 8TV”. Airin added, “ A cute comedy, with enough laughs, tears and emotional twists - Marry me Mary, will have you begging for more!”

The trinkets of Marry me Mary aren’t any typical good looking hopefuls, Jang Keun Suk is a talented singer and actor with recent success in drama “You’re Beautiful!”. His finesse has made him one of the most sought after Korean entertainers in 2010 and he has proven his worth when he received the KBS Drama Awards for Best Actor for his role in Marry me Mary. He also testified his popularity when he topped the KBS International Netizen's Popularity Award apart from earning himself two acclamations from Yahoo! Asia Buzz Awards for Top Buzz Male Korea Star Award & Top Buzz Male Asia Star Award categories.

Behind those youthful eyes, Mae Ri or Moon Geun Young is not inferior to her “husband” as a high-profile actress. Known as the Little Sister of Korea, she hailed as one of the biggest stars with multiple awards of the KBS Drama Awards ranging from Best Actress, Most Popular Female Actress, to Best Couple Award with Jang Keuk Suk for Marry me Mary. Apart from that, her previous role in Cinderella’s Stepsisters also gained recognition with her winning the Top Excellent Actress Award consecutively.

In a league of its own, Marry me Mary brings you romance without being cloyingly sweet. Catch all the laughs and tears in this light hearted drama that will broadcast nationwide starting from 18th June till 1st October 2011, every Saturday, 6.30 – 8.00pm exclusively on 8TV. 8TV is also available via Astro’s channel 708.
