Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk will appear in an episode of a Japanese variety program next week, according to his agency Tree J. Company on Tuesday.
Tree J. announced through a press release that Jang took part in a recording of Fuji TV's "SMAP x SMAP," hosted by Japanese group SMAP, last month while the episode will air on July 18.
Other notable Korean stars that have appeared on the show include Jang Dong-gun, Lee Young-ae, Lee Byung-hun, Choi Ji-woo, Ryu Si-won, Kwon Sang-woo and BoA.
"The members of SMAP were excited in shooting the show with Jang since he is quite popular in the country," an official from the show was quoted as saying, adding that the atmosphere on set was great.
Making his debut as a catalog model at the early age of five, Jang has starred in a number of hit TV series such as SBS' "He Beautiful" and "Marry Me, Mary."
He also made his singing debut in Japan with the release of the single "Let me cry" which had topped Oricon's weekly chart and is currently working on film "You Are My Pet" alongside actress Kim Ha-neul.
Jang recently wrapped up his six-country tour in Asia where he met fans in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan and Shanghai.
