Ryu Si-won will compete in the Ferrari Challenge Series race in China from Friday to Sunday, his agency said. Ryu is a well-known car racer, but this will be the first time for him to represent Korea in an international race.

The Ferrari Challenge started in Europe and North America in 1993 as a friendly competition for Ferrari owners and racers. Since then, around 2,200 drivers from 24 countries have taken part. It expanded its scope to the Asia-Pacific region this year, with the fifth round to be held in China and Japan.

Forza Motors Korea, Ferrari's official importer, decided to allow Ryu take part in the race and will act as his sponsor.

Ryu has his own pro-racing team EXR TEAM1060. He will drive the Ferrari 458 Challenge, which was specifically designed for the race, and will compete in two official races on the final day of the event after test and practice runs.

Since Hong Kong star Aaron Kwok also will participate, there is a chance that the two will get the chance to race together.
