Wijedasa had informed UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe of the meeting before he had met with the President. Wijedasa had then informed Wickremesinghe on the 25th morning that he was going to make a statement about the panel's report. The UNP Leader had asked that the statement be sent to him before being released to the media. However, the parliamentarian had released the statement to the media on the
25th and sent a copy to the party leader on the 26th morning.
The CID under the direct guidance of the President had initiated an investigation in to Wijedasa for the non payment of taxes on his business ventures.
